Four stories, based on real events, about four people from different social backgrounds who are being held in pre-trial detention, waiting either for release or for their day in court. (RIVER) A footballer, a rising star, wakes up in hospital with no memory of the previous night, only to learn that his friends died in a car crash and that he is suspected of having been behind the wheel. (LOOT) A mother driving home with her little daughter is stopped at the border and discovers that there is a bag with robbery loot in her trunk. (FIRE) A village farmer at a turning point in his life is accused by his best man, a local village tycoon, of setting fire to his storage facility (cold room) and destroying his life. (CONCRETE) A family man gets into an argument on a bus on his way to work and ends up accused of involuntary manslaughter after the man he quarrelled with falls out of the bus. Each of them faces the same choice – to be acquitted, or to become truly free?
